What Modopodo does

  • Voice capture with live transcription: words appear as you speak; many languages, including switching languages within one note.
  • Text capture: one field, saves instantly, works offline and syncs later.
  • Automatic organization: every note gets a title, a short summary, a kind (thought, idea, reflection, question, insight, plan, feeling, memory, learning, quote), a theme, tags, and the people, places and projects it mentions.
  • Corrections that teach it: change a note’s kind or theme, rename or merge themes, and future notes are filed the same way.
  • Browse by theme (with a one-line summary of what is going on in each area of your life), as a timeline, or by person.
  • Search by meaning (semantic search) as well as by words.
  • Reflections: on demand, Modopodo reads your notes and returns insights, blind spots, tensions, patterns, connections and questions. Pin the ones that ring true; refresh the rest.
  • Growing ideas: when you keep returning to a thought, related notes are threaded into one idea page showing how it evolved, where it stands, open questions and a next step.
  • Dissect a note: its essence, hidden assumptions, counterpoints, questions to ask yourself, next steps and connections to other notes.
  • Ask your notes: answers to questions about your own thinking, with citations linking to the notes they came from.
  • Related notes on every note; “worth exploring” follow-up prompts.
  • Export all notes as Markdown; delete your account and all data anytime, right in the app (Settings).
  • Reflections are generated on demand (tap Refresh); they are not automatic.
  • Offline: text notes save instantly on the phone and sync later; voice recordings made offline are kept and transcribed once you reconnect.

Privacy

  • Notes are stored in the EU (Supabase, Frankfurt) and isolated per account at the database level.
  • Data is encrypted in transit. It is not end-to-end encrypted: the AI has to read a note to organize it and answer questions about it.
  • AI processing by Anthropic (Claude) for organization, reflections and answers, and by OpenAI for voice transcription; under their API terms this data is not used to train their models.
  • Audio is not kept on Modopodo’s servers.
  • The maker does not read your notes, except to investigate a problem you report or where the law requires it.
  • Deleting your account (in the app, Settings) permanently removes your account and all associated data from Modopodo’s servers.
  • No advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs; data is never sold.
  • GDPR rights: access, correction, export and deletion.

Details are in the privacy policy.

What Modopodo is not

  • Not a task manager, calendar or team wiki; it is for personal thinking. (Podomodo, from the same maker, handles tasks and focus.)
  • No collaboration or shared notebooks.
  • No handwriting, image or PDF import, and no importer for notes from other apps.
  • No hands-free trigger yet (no Siri, Shortcuts, widget, Apple Watch or CarPlay capture): you open the app and tap the mic.
  • AI output can be wrong or incomplete and is not medical, legal or financial advice.

Who makes it

Modopodo is made by Christoph Sacher, an independent developer in Vienna, Austria, who also makes Podomodo, a focus and task app. Modopodo exists because good thoughts usually arrive at bad moments, and most notes apps leave the filing, connecting and remembering to you.
